The HYY150 festivities continue on Monday 3 September with the Opening Carnival, where HYY’s organisations will take over the Main Building of the City Centre campus, Porthania and the street areas nearby. Come and check out HYY’s diverse organisations and committees, add to your overall badge collection and take in the summery line-up of music on Porthania’s outdoor stage. The headliner of this year’s Opening Carnival is Elias Gould.

4.30 pm Ylioppilasteatteri ('The Student Theatre') will perform songs from their summer 2018 production Nomadia – myyttimatka muutokseen.

2 – 6 pm At HYY’s stand in front of Porthania, you can learn about the Student Union’s activities and actors as well as add to your overall badge and Anniversary year product collections!
2 – 6 pm Hytky, or Helsingin yliopiston teknokulttuurin ystävät ry, play proper techno throughout the event at the upper end of Fabianinkatu.
2 – 6 pm The Event Committee Humu's lounge. You can find Humu next to the bicycle park on the platform next to Porthania all day. Humu will also bring an amazing bouncy castle along to the Carnival, and you can jump on it on Yliopistonkatu.
2 - 6 pm At Prologi’s bikeshop on Yliopistonkatu, you can fix your bicycle and learn about the activities of HYY’s fastest organisation!
2.15 – 5 pm The Student Organisations Committee’s street sitsit: a dinner party open for everyone, registration on site. Sittings at 2.15pm, 3pm, 3.45pm and 4.30pm. Tickets on site 30 minutes before every sitting. Don’t know what a sitsit is? Come and find out!
3 – 3.50 pm Martial arts show at the corner of Yliopistonkatu and Fabianinkatu. Aikido, daitoryu, haidong gumdo, judo, karate, shorinji kempo, taekwon-do, taido and kashima shinryu.

Street food at this year’s Opening Carnival will be provided at affordable prices by Levant and Street Gastro! The food trucks will be located near the corner of Yliopistonkatu and Fabianinkatu.
