Even in Finland, the eduction of the parents often dictates the choices the child makes in regard to their education, and a student from a working class family often feels like an outsider in academia. Class & university is an open discussion among students and experts on how people from the working class end up in a university, and what it feels like to study in a university.
Discussing the topic at the event are students of the University of Helsinki with personal experience of the matter, psychotherapist, social science researcher Katriina Järvinen, who is well-versed in the subject, and PhD researcher Susanna Mikkonen from Tampere.
The event is in Finnish. Admission is free and the venue is accessible.
